Completely Done

So here i thought that we were completely done with the class. After i turned in all my work from the OTEN conference to the webinar and finally the ART final project. But then i realized two days later i have to do a look back and an overall self assessment.

Well like i said from day one i never knew what to expect entering into this class. I thought we were going to be talking about the SMART board and using the TV and DVD players in the classroom. But little did i know that we would be learning how to blog and wiki as well as creating our very own websites.

I found that through this course there are a lot of educators out there that are willing to help others that are beginning. We no longer have to start from scratch when entering the classroom. We have many that are around us willing to help. Not only educators but others, like PBS, National Geographics, etc. Taking this course expanded my resources when i enter the classroom. I don't' even know how to put all of my thought down right now because i am so overjoyed and excited to start practicing my new learned knowledge.

Also many sites that i visit now i know what they are or i notice things on their pages that i know about or how to do. For example i have come across so many RSS. I believe that if every future teacher or even teachers that are already teaching were required to take this class, education for the children as well as parents would be on a whole different level.

As for my individual assessment i think that i got a lot out of the class but i could have shown more effort through out the course instead of nearing the end. I also believe that if my site that i created is ever going to succeed i will have to be more responsible. Taking this course opened up my eyes to see how irresponsible i am and how that will effect me greatly when i become a teacher. No one will be telling me whats due or whats coming up. That is my responsibility and through this course i finally realize this. No one told me what was due when the due date was coming closer it was my responsibility to look on the course website and keep track. I felt like this course was a little elementary school in itself and Anita was the administration and we were all the teachers. That had to meet deadlines while still constantly learning new things. Everyday i think about how i can use my site or create a new one to help me or even those around me. I recently got offered a babysitting job and i am already thinking about how i might be able to use all of my new knowledge in technology to help communicate with the parents.

I am very excited and i feel that this course has prepared me to be a better student as well as a great future educator. =)
